کودک شما دیر یا زود خواهید پرسید : «نوزاد از کجا می آید؟» ممکن است کودکتان شما را غافلگیر کند ، مثلا این سوال را در فروشگاه ، در خانه – وقتی بستگان به دیدن شما می آیند- یا در استخر – وقتی به دوست حامله شما نگاه میکند- بپرسد. با توجه به نوع و ساختار روابط خانوادگی ، والدین می توانند از پاسخگویی طفره بروند بگویند:« برو از مادرت ،یا پدرت بپرس» ، «هنوز برای فهمیدن این موضوع خیلی کوچک هستی» یا «وقتی بزرگتر شدی برایت توضیح می دهم». اما پدر و مادر با این توضیح ها ،پیامی غیر کلامی را منتقل می کنندکه موضوع تولید مثل خارج از محدوده و تابو است. شاید ترس والدین از پاسخگویی به کنجکاوی های کودکان ، از آنجا ناشی میشود که والدین پرسش کودک خود را از دیدگاه پیچیده یک فرد بزرگسال میبینند (تمام مسائل مربوط به آمیزش جنسی، عشق، بیماری هایی که از طریق جنسی منتقل میشوند، بارداری های ناخواسته، درد زایمان…) علاوه بر آن، والدین نگران این هستند که آیا فرزندشان آنقدر بزرگ شده است که بتواند اطلاعاتی را که در اختیارش قرار گرفته است را بدون سوء درک پردازش کندو حیرت زده نشود؟ اغلب والدین، بیش از حد از فرزندان خود مراقبت میکنند، پاسخگویی به سوالات آنها را به حداقل میرسانند و میکوشند که علاقه فرزند خود را به موضوع کم کنند. بچه ها خیلی زود متوجه بی میلی والدین خود میشوند. ممکن است پدر و  مادر برای حفظ معصومیت کودکان، به کلی موضوع را کنار بگذارند اما فرزندشان آن را به حساب شرم و حیای پدر و مادر خود می گذارد.

گاهی اوقات هم والدین به خاطر ارزش ها و عقاید خود، به صحبت با فرزندشان درباره جنسیت علاقه ای نشان نمیدهند. آنها پیش خود میگویند:« اگر من این واقعیت ها را به به او بگویم و او از این اطلاعات برای تجربه جنسی استفاده کند چه ؟ »یا  «نکند فرزند من علاقه من را نسبت به گفتگو در این باره ، چنین تعبیر کند که من رضایت داده ام وارد تجربیات جنسی زود هنگام و نامناسب شود؟» اما ترس والدین را میتوان با تجربیات  علمی ارزشمند کاهش داد. ثابت شده است که ارائه دادن اطلاعات بیشتر به نوجوانان ، باعث افزایش تجربیات جنسی در آنها نمیشود.  در واقع کودکانی که نسبت به کار کرد بدن خود و مسائل مربوط به جنسیت آگاهی دارند تمایل بیشتری برای به تاخیر انداختن آمیزش جنسی دارند و ترجیح میدهند که در سنین بالاتر به این امر بپردازند. پس والدین میتوانند ترس های خود را کنار بگذارند و مطئن باشند که به نفع بچه هاست اگر  اطلاعات جنسی خود را از بزرگسالانی که به آنها علاقه دارند ، یعنی از والدین خود دریافت کنند. بچه ها به هر حال کنجکاوی خود را ارضا خواهند کرد و اطلاعات  لازم را از منابعی مثل دوستان، نشریات، و تلوزین به دست خواهند آورد. آنها از تخیلات خود – که غالبا فراواقعی نیز هست- استفاده خواهند کرد، از این رو والدین باید آموزش جنسی کودکان را برای اطمینان از رشد سالم آنها تا بلوغ کامل رهبری کنند.

یکی از کلید های آموزش جنسی موفق این است که همواره به خاطر داشته باشید روند آموزشی فرزندتان تدریجی است و نباید همه جزییات را یکجا در اختیار او قرار دهید. دانش و اطلاعات باید به صورت مستمر جمع شود و بارها تکرار گردد. درجه درک یک کودک ساده تر از بزرگسال است و او تنها میتواند مطالب عینی را درک کند. پدر و مادر، بهترین کسانی هستند که میتوانند درباره مراحل رشد کودکان قضاوت کنند لذا با توجه به ارزیابی قدرت پردازش اطلاعات در کودک باید به سوال های او درباره واقعیت های حیات پاسخی مختصر داد.

در زیر چند پاسخ به کودکان درباره نوزادان آمده است، آنها را بخوانید و پاسخ هایی را که با آنها راحت تر هستید انتخاب کنید، البته میتوانید از خودتان هم به آنها چیزهایی اضافه کنید.

وقتی کودک زیر پنج سالی میپرسد :«نوزاد از کجا می آید؟» باید به او پاسخی ساده و کوتاه داد. برای ارضای کنجکاوی این بچه ها ، به حد اکثر دو یا چند جمله نیاز است،اما قبل از اینکه به او توضیح بدهید ، ابتدا نسبت به مورد سوال خود کودک اطمینان کسب کنید. سوال را برای خودتان و کودکتان تکرار کنید تا همه چیز روشن و شفاف باشد. به بیان دیگر ابتدا همیشه سوال کودک خود را به زبان دیگری بگویید. شما با این کار مطمئن میشویدکه به درستی سوال او را فهمیده اید. لطیفه زیر همین مفهوم را نشان میدهد:

پسر چهار ساله ای نفس زنان به درون خانه میدود و از مادرش میپرسد: « من از کجا آمده ام ؟» مادر هول میشود و سعی میکند نفسی بکشد و با نگرانی پیش خود میگوید :«چرا حالا؟ درباره مسائل اساسی جنسیت با او صحبت نکرده ام. هنوز خیلی زود است!» سپس ماهرانه سعی میکند کمی وقت به دست بیاورد و می پرسد:«من از کجا آمده ام؟ منظورت چیه؟» پسر که گیج شده است، سرش را بالا میکند، به مادرش نگاه میکند و میگوید:« دوستم در فلان شهر به دنیا آمده است و من نمی دانم کجا به دنیا آمده ام!»

مادر با خیال راحت آهی میکشد و میگوید:«خب تو هم در فلان شهر دیگر به دنیا آمده ای.»

مادر نجات پیدا میکند! سناریو بالا طنزآمیز بود اما سناریو واقعی دیر یا زود پیش می آید!

«آن سی.برنستاین» در کتاب خویش بنام پرواز لک لک مصاحبه خود را با کودکان درباره نظرات شان نسبت به چگونگی به وجود آمدن نوزادان آورده است. به قول برنستاین، عده ای از بچه های سه تا هفت ساله، جغرافی دان هستند و فکر میکنند نوزادان از آغاز به همین صورت وجود داشته اند فقط باید به بیمارستان و مغازه جاهای دیگر رفت  و آنها را گرفت. اگر بدانیم کودکان در سنین مختلف چگونه فکر میکنند، به سهولت میتوانیم به پرسش های آنان پاسخ های مناسب تری بدهیم.

بعنوان مثال والدین باید این نکته را روشن کنند که نوزاد را از بیمارستان نمیخرند، بلکه، پزشک پرستار یا ماما کمک میکند تا نوزاد از بدن مادر خارج شود. بسیاری از افراد به کودکان میگویند نوزاد در شکم مادر رشد میکند. شاید منطقی به نظر برسد که بچه ، غذا، شکم و رشد نوزاد را معادل هم بداند  اما این اطلاعات غیر دقیق و گیج کننده است و در آینده به سختی می توان آنها را اصلاح کرد. بچه ها قبل از اینکه بتوانند بخاطر رشد اداراک خود اطلاعات جدیدی را جذب کنند ، به باور های قبلی خود پای بند میمانند. پس مطالب جدید و دقیق را باید بارها و بارها و به شکل های گوناگون به کودکان آموخت تا کاملا آنها را فرا بگیرند. شما با این روش پایه محکمی را بنا میکنید که ادامه روند یادگیری را ممکن میسازد. این کار با آموزش یک زبان جدید تفاوتی ندارد، پس فراموش نکنید: تکرا، تکرا، تکرار.

مثال زیر فقط میتواند یک آغاز مناسب را برای شما و کودکتان نشان بدهد.

دختر پنج ساله ای بعد از اینکه تمام روز خود را مهدکودک گذزانده است به خانه می آید و میگوید :« مامان نوزادان از کجا می آیند؟»

مادر:«تو فکر میکنی از کجا می آیند؟»

دختر:«مطمئن نیستم، شاید بیمارستان. اما مربی ما دارد بچه دار میشود.»

مادر:«نوزاد درجای مخصوصی از بدن مادر رشد میکند تا آماده بیرون آمدن بشود.»

دختر:«توی شکم ،نه؟»

مادر:«نه جای مخصوص نوزاد “رحم” نام دارد.»

میتوانید به کودکتان نشان دهید که رحم درست زیر ناف زن قرار دارد.

این توضیح بسیاری از کودکان پیش دبستانی را راضی میکند اما بعضی از آنها اطلاعات بیشتری میخواهند و باز هم درباره جزییات آن از شما میپرسند. بعضی هم با اطلاعات کمتری راضی میشوندو موضوع را فراموش میکنند. بسیاری از بچه ها توضیحات شما را تا چند روز به زبان خودشان تکرار میکنند و گاهی هم موقعیت نامناسبی برای این کار انتخاب میکنند.  به هر حال پدر مادر بودن لذت های خاص خودش را دارد!
